Join our next NEON Protest

At NEON Protest you can simply join in and stand loudly and proudly vegan for the animals with us. This short intro video shows you how a protest works and what you can expect on site.

To help you prepare as well as possible, you’ll find a few important notes further down for your next NEON protest.

What you should know beforehand

  • let the organizer in your city or the local NEON Instagram account know that you’re coming, so we can bring enough signs

  • Organizer
    This person is your point of contact on site.

    Sign Holder
    Holds the large signs in the row and makes the animals visible.

    Outreacher
    Talks to people, answers questions and explains veganism.

    Speaker
    Gives short, animal-focused speeches over the microphone.

    Social Media / Film
    Films, photographs and documents the protest so more people can be reached online and join NEON.

    DJ / Music
    Provides the musical atmosphere on site.

  • Before the protest
    Please arrive on time. Before we begin, you will receive the material for the role you want to take on today.

    Briefing
    Before the protest starts, the organizer will explain the structure, the roles and what we aim to communicate together. Then the protest begins.

    During the protest
    You can take breaks at any time. Just step to the side so the overall formation stays intact.

    Outro and finish
    After the outro, we take a group photo and a group video.

    Debriefing
    At the end, there is a short debriefing: feedback, notes for the next protest, etc. After that, all materials are collected and the protest is officially over.

  • Take the microphone and speak for the animals in a tier-centered, abolitionist way, or read our prepared speeches aloud.

    Photo and Video Onboarding

    1. No other animals may be brought along, as the protest is loud, stressful and dangerous for them.

    2. Wear black clothing, red accents are allowed. Vegan messages are allowed as long as they are clearly abolitionist vegan. No environmental or health-based messages, no political demands and no promotion of animal-exploiting organizations. Activated vegans may join spontaneously even if they are not fully dressed in black. Anyone who does not want to wear a NEON mask while holding signs may use a black scarf, cloth or head covering instead, as long as the face is at least half covered.

    3. Recordings of speeches may only be published on NEON profiles with the explicit consent of the speakers.

    4. The public may be filmed freely. Children must always be blurred in the edit.

    5. Children may participate and hold signs, but only while wearing a mask. Masks are also mandatory for children in group photos. Everything else is decided by the organizer on site in the interest of child protection.

    6. Handle all materials and props with care.

    7. Do not bring unnecessary bags so the protest area stays clear and organized.

    8. No alcohol or other drugs before or during the protest.

    9. In case of incidents such as conflicts, police interactions or medical emergencies, remain calm and follow the instructions of the organizers. Individual hero actions or impulsive reactions endanger everyone.

    10. General decisions are made by the organizers on site. Discussions are handled afterwards in a calm setting.
